Back in September Facebook suffered a MAJOR security breach that leaked the personal information of 50 to 90 million users to hackers. This morning, some news sources reported that Facebook had begun asking some users not only to provide their email address, which makes sense, but also their password, which makes no sense at all. DO NOT GIVE FACEBOOK OR ANY OTHER ORGANIZATION YOUR EMAIL ACCOUNT PASSWORD. With access to a user’s email info, Facebook has been “harvesting” users’ contacts.
In the face of an uprising, Facebook promises not to do this any more. Right.
And what will Facebook do with the information it already possesses? They should never have done it in the first place. We will see what not providing password info to Facebook does for us, but we can definitely live without Facebook if we need to.
